Meaning of Dreams about Descent

Descent Dream Meaning Psychological Meaning:

In many dreams this may represent descending into the unconscious. In particular cave entrances, wells, tombs and cellars can represent entrances to the netherworld of the unconscious. Alternatively, you may interpret this as a downward phase in your life- you may feel ‘down’ as the Hippies say. On the other hand, perhaps you are over the worst and everything is down hill from now on. See articles: Psychedelic Art

Descent Dream Meaning Mystical Meaning:

Legend has it that the ancient people of Crete built temples in underground caves. Here they held their strange rituals and bull dancing ceremonies. Since the earliest times, the descent into the underground world has been a symbol of man’s search for divinity and spiritual empowerment.

I have had a recurring dream of going down underground in some corridors like a tunnel. It feels like a dungeon of some sort, stone walls, tight pathways, sometimes there is a room with a path in the middle and on both sides there is fire, sometimes there are pools of blood, it’s always dark. And it keeps going down and sometimes the path forks like a maze. I feel the need to explore every path.

When I was younger I was scared of this dream and felt it like nightmare. As I grew older, the feeling of fear disappeared and I felt like I’m watching a movie – indifferent, just wanting to see what happens.

    What could this dream mean?
