who is unable to speak or refuses to speak represents
an undeveloped function within the self. The psychologist
Carl Jung said that these silent figures represent an
imbalance between emotion and intellect. One side of
the personality overpowers the other rendering it speechless
or impotent. Some people suffer from sleep-paralysis.
They wake up before the back part of the brain has started
to function. This area stops the body acting out our
dreams and prevents us thrashing around as we sleep.
The dreamer may 'wake up' but discovers they are completely
paralysed. Similarly you may feel that you want to speak,
cry out or scream but find that you've been struck dumb.
If this happens to you, don't panic. Relax until your
whole brain starts working.
Mystical Meaning: To dream of being dumb means
that you are unable to convince people of the worth
of your plans. However, if a dumb person dreams of being
dumb they must beware of false friends!
